I’ve got GAS!

I’ve got GAS!

I have a confession to make, I have GAS... No,no, not gas but GAS: Gear Acquisition Syndrome.
I've suffered from this dreadful problem for some time now and I fear, there's no cure for it. Every year, or even every six months, something new that's shinier, faster, more powerful, thinner comes out , I suddenly get the overpowering urge to buy something new that I don't need.
Take software: I hear you, 'how can software be shinier, thinner or faster?' Well it can't most of the time but it doesn't stop me wanting it over my current versions. I have Aperture, Lightroom, iPhoto and now, Capture One Pro 8!
Then cameras: I've had Kodak, Olympus, Canon, Nikon, Leica and Fujifilm cameras. Even when I settled on Fujifilm when I bought an X-Pro 1, I then added an X100s to my collection but then along came the X-T10. What a great wee camera, compact, powerful, fast and retro, just the drug for my GAS illness, both the X-Pro 1 and X100s were sold to feed this dreadful disease. Am I now happy and free from my GAS? Hell no as its now got me wanting the next best thing, the X-T1.

And finally, computers: I've had a Mac mini, the first version. It cured the dreaded BSOD... BSOD? What on earth is that I hear you say, the Blue Screen of Death disease. But that didn't do the trick and I felt the BSOD returning so a MacBook Pro 15" was bought to help relieve the symptoms but it returned once more, or twice... No, maybe three times as I then Bought a MacBook Air too. Then a new Mac mini followed, the one without the dvd drive, but that wasn't enough. They were sold to help bring relief in the form of a MacBook Pro retina 13" and so far, it's worked... Well, I'm fighting the urge to get an iMac 5k but I'm resisting... Resisting... Res sis ting nnnghhh!
Why is this world full of temptation? Will I ever be cured, I don't know...
