To pay or not to pay? That is the question

AppleCare, that insurance deal that Apple offers you on all devices purchased from them... is it worth the cost?

We've all been there, do I take out AppleCare on my latest and greatest purchase from Apple and will it be of use, or just another expense to add to the already high cost of Apple products, especially when we take into account the latest hike in prices.

Like many of you I have bought AppleCare and never ever used it but there comes a time when we decide to defer, with the idea of getting it within the time limit Apple allows us to make up our minds.

Then as time passes bye, it slips the mind and then... wallop, you drop that expensive device onto a hard surface, watch it slide down the street while you silently hope it will be 'all right'. That is the time you find your luck has ran out and its time to book an appointment at
your local Apple Store to have it repaired.
Will they see the funny side of the story at how you broke the device, will they repair it for free as you've heard that they have done many times or, have to cough up the cost as I have had to do... all £139.

f anything, I have learnt that you can't really win either way. Buy AppleCare and get the device repaired or replaced, normally for free, or save the money in the hope that that time will never come as has been the case with my previous iPhones... 5's & 6's.

The moral of the story is this... don't try to be clever or cool by using an iPhone in one hand with the other hand full, and don't expect the case that the iPhone is in to save the day either. My Moleskin case is an all enclosing one where, it has saved me this day a few times already but when the cover is open, as it was when I was using the iPhone, then Sod's law will ensure that it will land face down on the ground and.... wah!
